Apple could launch the next-gen iPhone SE in March 2020

The 4-inch iPhone SE was introduced in March 2016.

Apple is said to have plans to launch the next generation iPhone SE model in spring 2020.

Nikkei Asian Review claims that Apple will unveil the low-cost iPhone model in March or April to boost sales during a period when the mid life-cycle of the 2019 flagship iPhones. Apple also expects the new iPhone SE model to win customers in emerging markets where Huawei, Samsung and other phone makers dominate.

Three sources told the publication that the new iPhone SE model will be similar to the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 and share most of the components with the upcoming 2019 iPhone lineup. It is also likely to use a LCD panel to reduce manufacturing costs. 

The Economic Daily published a similar report in April; it suggests an early 2020 release of a "new iPhone 8" model with a 4.7-inch display, A13 processor and a single rear camera module. There was also a rumor of an iPhone XE coming later this year.
