Apple could be working with PlayNitride in the micro-LED market

Apple is reportedly in talks with one industry player over cooperation in the micro-LED market.

According to DigiTimes, Apple is in preliminary talks with Taiwan-based company PlayNitride over cooperation in the MicroLED market. PlayNitride develops its own micro-LED displays (also known as PixeLED), display modules and panels which could be of some interest to Apple. PlayNitride also received approval from the Ministry of Science and Technology in Taiwan to setup facilities at the Hsinchu Science Park.

Micro-LED is said to be the next display technology after OLED that Apple is pursuing for its devices. micro-LED has several advantages over OLED and LCD such as slimmer designs, brighter panels and lower consumption. Future Apple Watch models are expected to be the first Apple devices to sport micro-LED panels.
