Apple confirms no customer data compromised in teen hacking incident

Apple issued a statement confirming that no customer data was compromised in the hacking incident.

The company added that its information security team “discovered the unauthorized access, contained it, and reported the incident to law enforcement”.

The hacks were carried out by a 16-year-old Australian teen over the course of a year. He was able to download 90GB of secure files and accessed customer accounts without exposing his identity.

The Australian teen has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced next month.
