Word on the street is that Apple has just presented its highly-anticipated AR/VR headset to its board members, suggesting that the device is nearing completion and could be launched soon.

In addition, it is also believed that Apple is doubling down on the development of the software that will power the headset and that it will be called "RealityOS," or "rOS" for short.

Details surrounding the headset are scarce but the general consensus is that it will feature a curved visor and a soft mesh (not unlike the AirPods Max's earpads) that will fit against the face.

Inside, some say it will feature two 4K micro-OLED displays, 15 camera modules, and processors that rival Apple's current custom silicon for Macs.

The report, which comes from Bloomberg, also says that Apple could unveil the headset as early as the end of this year, though retail availability isn't planned until sometime next year.

This makes sense as an AR/VR headset would be Apple's first all-new major product since the Apple Watch and it is unlikely that they will announce it before they unveil their new iPhones and Macs for the year.
