Apple appoints new head for Apple Music, service exceeds 40 million subscribers

Apple has appointed a new head to lead the Apple Music team and the music streaming service achieved yet another milestone.

In a leaked memo obtained by Variety, Apple promoted Oliver Schusser to VP of Apple Music & International Content. Schusser will report to Apple's SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue. In his previous position, Schusser led efforts outside the U.S related to the App Store, iTunes' Movies and TV portals, iBooks and Apple Podcasts

The leaked memo also mentions that Apple Music has more than 40 million paid subscribers in 115 countries. That's an increase of 2 million paid subscribers in just over a month! With 8 million subscribers on the free trial, there will still be plenty of growth opportunities for Apple Music in the months ahead.
