Apple customers spent an estimated $193 million in the App Store on Christmas Day

Apple's App Store continues to rake in immense revenue for the company and developers.

Data from Sensor Tower indicates that consumers spent $277 million globally on the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store this Christmas. The App Store accounted for a whopping 70% of spending between the two platforms at $193 million. When compared to the same period in 2018, spending on the App Store grew 16% in 2019.

The bulk of the mobile spending was on games, which generated 76% of revenue across the two platforms and increased about 8% year-on-year. PUBG Mobile led the in-game spending with $8.5 million, which is an increase of over 431% from Christmas 2018.

Apple has not revealed the App Store spending for the 2019 holiday season. For the 2018 holiday period, Apple shared that customers spent a record-breaking $1.22 billion between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
