Apple announces multibillion-dollar deal with Broadcom to make components in U.S
Apple just announced a multi-year, multibillion-dollar agreement with Broadcom.
The collaboration will see Broadcom develop and manufacture 5G radio frequency (RF) components - including FBAR filters and other advanced wireless connectivity components - in several key American manufacturing and technology hubs. These 5G RF components will be used in Apple's future products.
Apple is already supporting more than 1,100 jobs in Broadcom's Fort Collins FBAR filter manufacturing facility. The new collaboration will enable Broadcom to continue to invest in critical automation projects and upskilling with technicians and engineers.
Despite the continued collaboration with Broadcom, Bloomberg reported earlier this year that Apple plans to ditch a key Broadcom component in 2025 with its in-house combo Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip.
