Apple could introduce asthma tracking as a new health feature in the near future.

A source told CNBC that Apple has acquired Tueo Health, a startup that was developing a solution to help parents monitor asthma symptoms in sleeping children via a mobile app and commercial sensors. Parents will receive alerts if the breathing patterns of the child change at night.

Tueo's CEO and co-founder Brownyn Harris and chief operating officer Anura Patil updated their LinkedIn profiles in late 2018 to state Apple as their employer. It is not known how much Apple paid to acquire Tueo Health, but the startup raised $1.1 million in funding in 2017.

Apple has been making acquisitions and hires in the health care industry. It hired prominent obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Christine Curry to boost its efforts in women's health. Jason Oberfest, the former CEO of Mango Health, was hired last year to develop solutions to help people take their medication on time.

Apple acquired sleep tracking firm Beddit in 2017 and it is reportedly bringing native sleep tracking to the Apple Watch by 2020. There are also reports of Apple introducing blood pressure and blood sugar level monitoring features to the Apple Watch.
