Apple has just announced new upgrade options for the 16-inch MacBook Pro and Mac Pro.

Customers will now be able to spec their 16-inch MacBook Pro with AMD's more powerful Radeon Pro 5600M GPU which comes with 8GB of HBM2 memory.

This is a new GPU that's just been announced by AMD that feature 40 compute units, 2540 stream processors, and fast memory that delivers a bandwidth of 394GB/s. Total compute throughput is a claimed 5.3 TLOPS.

Naturally, this performance isn't cheap. It's a S$1,050 premium over the step-up 16-inch MacBook Pro configuration that comes with a Core i9 processor and AMD Radeon Pro 5500M graphics.

Prices for the kit are as follows:

  • 1TB – S$900
  • 2TB – S$1,500
  • 4TB – S$2,400
  • 8TB – S$4,200

The Radeon Pro 5600M GPU upgrade and SSD kits for Mac Pro are all available now.
