Another report suggests OLED iPad models are launching in 2022

The Apple 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2021) is the first iPad to sport a mini-LED display.

While Apple chose to use a mini-LED panel for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro this year, the company is rumoured to adopting OLED panels for "some" iPad models in 2022.

Based on information from industry sources, ETNews claim that Apple will ditch LCD for OLED in some iPad models from next year. Samsung and LG will be the suppliers of the OLED panels for these iPad models.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has a different take though; he believes Apple is accelerating the adoption of mini-LED panels for the iPad and estimates that 30 to 40% of iPads in the future will use mini-LED panels.

Other publications reported on the possibility of a future iPad model with OLED panel. TheElec reported in November 2020 that an iPad Pro model with OLED screen could launch in 2021. DigiTimes said in a March report that a 10.9-inch iPad with OLED screen is slated for release in early 2022. Analyst Kuo released his research note in the same month stating that an OLED iPad Air is coming next year.
