Android Tablets to Overtake iPads For the First Time

There's no doubt that the iPad is presently the most popular and dominant tablet. However, according to research house International Data Corp (IDC), that could change this year as Android tablets could, for the first time, overtake the iPad in terms of market share. This charge has been led mostly by Samsung whose Galaxy smartphones and tablets have dealt serious damage to Apple's iPhones and iPads.

That said, it's worth remembering that iOS is backed by one company and that is Apple, while Android is supported by numerous companies such as Samsung, HTC, Sony and many more. IDC speculates that while the iPhone and iPad will still grow, their growth will be significantly reduced.

Nevertheless, it is predicted that the mobile market will continue to expand at a very high rate. In fact, IDC has just revised its 2013 tablet shipment forecast from 172 million units to 190 million.
