Analyst expects Apple to increase prices of its new products this year

Apple's upcoming new products for the rest of the year may cost more.

While Apple enjoyed record earnings for the first quarter of the year, analyst Chris Caso from financial services firm Raymond James expects Apple to raise prices for its new product launches in the fall. This could dampen demand for the iPhone 14.

The hike in prices is due to exchange rate, inflation, and the loss of Russia revenue due to the war in Ukraine. In addition, the lockdowns in China continue to pose a risk if the situation does not normalise by September.

Consumers can expect to see Apple launch its "widest array" of new products later this year across the different product categories. With the global chip shortage estimated to last into 2024, consumer electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, notebooks and PCs are likely to be more expensive.
