Emergency meeting!

Among Us managed to garner half a billion monthly active users in November, according to the market researchers at SuperData. In their annual report, SuperData reported that Among Us is now the most popular game of all time in terms of monthly players, by far. In November, Among Us surpassed 217 million downloads on mobile platforms too.

However, the game has not seen earnings figures that match these numbers, largely due to the fact that it’s not as heavily monetised as other mobile games. Fun fact: the PC version of the game has an extremely tiny share of the total playerbase. In November, only 3% of Among Us players used the PC version!

This is still a massive achievement for developer Innersloth however, as there are only 4 employees working on the game at the moment. Community director Victoria Tran responded to the news rather positively:

thought i knew what i was getting into, did not, and now have a giant community i wouldnt trade for the world

not done yet though determined to make it better which will take time (and stubbornness) WHICH I HAVE PLENTY OF so let's goooo (...after holiday)

Among Us saw a massive surge in popularity in 2020, despite having actually been released in 2018. This is largely due to big Twitch streamers noticing the game and playing it with viewers this year, circulating word of mouth about the game online. A popular American politician named Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez even streamed the game on Twitch at one point, and gained a massive 435,000 viewers.

Among Us has become so popular that Innersloth cancelled plans for a sequel entirely to focus on the game.
