Typhoon Systems will loan you a demo Ryzen PC before you make a purchase

Typhoon Systems will loan you a demo Ryzen PC before you make a purchase

Here's a look at the chassis that will come with the Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9 test system.

If you've ever wished you could test out a PC before dropping a couple thousand dollars on it, you just got your wish. Local boutique system builder Typhoon Systems is offering a demo PC program that will let you trial a system for a week or two before committing to a purchase.

The company only offers AMD-based systems, but that shouldn't be much of an issue considering how competitive the latest Ryzen 3000 processors are.

You'll be able to request machines with an AMD Ryzen 5 3400G, Ryzen 7 3700X, or Ryzen 9 3900X. The Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 systems will come with 32GB of RAM, while the Ryzen 5 build will let you pick between 8GB and 16GB configurations. The remainder of the system can be built to your specifications.

Typhoon Systems can provide you with a recommended configuration based on your budget or specific requirements, such as whether you plan to use your PC with programs like Adobe CC or 3ds Max. If you approve the proposed system, they'll then deliver a demo unit to you.

The Ryzen 5 3400G will come in a smaller chassis.

If you find that the configuration is not satisfactory, you can request for further adjustments, such as additional RAM or a different GPU. But if all is well, Typhoon Systems will proceed to collect the PC and put together a new one for you.

This approach has a couple of benefits, above all, allowing you to test the system in a real-world setting and with the specific programs that you hope to run. Your other alternative would be relying on online benchmarks and reviews, which may not be completely relevant to your particular use case.

It'll also help you make a more informed decision, and might even help you save money if you decide that your original configuration is overkill. For instance, you can see for yourself if you require a workstation GPU from NVIDIA's Quadro or AMD's Radeon Pro lines or if a regular consumer-grade GPU will work fine.

No deposit or payment is required to request a demo PC, and you only pay when you decide to make a purchase. That said, the demo PC program is only available for corporate and SME customers and will not be extended to home users.
