Update on 18 March 2020: Apple stores outside of China will now be closed indefinitely. Apple's website has also been updated to reflect this new change.

Apple just announced that it will be temporarily closing all its retail stores outside of China.

In a news statement, the company said that the Apple Stores outside of China will be closed until 27 March so as to minimise the risk of the Covid-19 virus spread. Its online stores will remain open and customers can visit support.apple.com for service and support.

The temporary closure of all Apple Stores outside of China comes shortly after its stores in China have reopened. Apple employees outside of China are encouraged to work remotely if their jobs allow. Extensive, deep cleaning will continue at all sites.

The company shared that it has committed $15 million to the global Covid-19 response to help treat infected patients and to help lessen the economic and community impacts of the coronavirus outbreak. It will be matching employee donations two-to-one to support Covid-19 response efforts locally, nationally and internationally.
