Never be caught without a vlogging or action camera with the Akaso KeyChain. At only 36g, it’s never been easier to bring one along with you no matter where you want to go. Now you have no excuse to miss out on taking that perfect video for Tik Tok or YouTube.

Packing in the features

Calling itself “the 4K vlog cam on the go”, the Akaso KeyChain has packed in a host of features into its 33 x 63 mm body (for some reason the thickness wasn’t included).

It has a 124º field of view, can shoot up to 4K videos at 30fps, and uses EIS 2.0 and six-axis gyroscope for image stabilisation system to produce a smooth-looking video. Some additional features include a time-lapse, loop record and take photos up to 20-megapixels.

In Wi-Fi mode, the KeyChain can take up to 43 minutes of recording at 4k. Without Wi-Fi mode, recording goes up to 60 minutes.

Thanks to its magnets, you can stick it anywhere. Image courtesy of Akaso.

Also included is a magnetic base so you can stick it onto anything metallic like a fridge, handlebars, some bike frames, and a helmet for example. You can even hang it on to backpack straps, a headband, and even clothes.

Can it deliver Insta fun?

The closest competition, the Insta360 Go.

The closest action camera similar in size I found was the Insta360 Go which currently retails for S$298 on their online store at Shopee. However, both the specs and price for the KeyChain are much better. For example, the Go only has 8GB of storage and shoots 1080p video at 25fps.

Pricing and how to get it

There are a number of accessories to bring it with you anywhere. Image courtesy of Akaso.

The Akaso KeyChain is currently available for pre-order at Indiegogo for US$109 (S$148.98) if you can catch the 21% discount offer. There is an Early Bird option for US$99 (S$135.31), but only limited units remain. Accessories are also ordered from the site and cost up to US$21 (S$28.70) depending on how many you choose to get.

Do note that the company states on the Indiegogo website that “The project team has a working demo, not the final product. Their ability to begin production may be affected by product development or financial challenges.” To their credit, however, this isn’t the first product the company has launched before.
