AirPods shipments estimated to double to 60 million this year
Apple is expected to ship double the number of AirPods in 2019 compared to last year.
Citing information from sources familiar with the production plans, Bloomberg reports that the year-over-year increase is partly driven by the higher-than-expected demand for the AirPods Pro. Apple’s assembly partners are reportedly pushing against capacity and technical constraints to meet the demand.
The AirPods have been a massive hit with consumers since its debut in 2016. Apple CEO Tim Cook described the launch of the first generation AirPods as “a run away success” for the company.
