AI your next suit!

Note: This article was first published on 6th September 2018.

So what if I tell you that you can use artificial intelligence (AI) to make a suit now? You might say I must be pulling your leg but this is possible now. One company reinvented the art of fashion and weaved it with AI at the same time.

Ask any fashion houses or designers and they would be able to talk about the strong competition that is consistently facing them. Most designers go through great lengths to make themselves stand out to win their stylish followers. The desire to create a good fit and style propels one such fashion designer to adopt artificial intelligence to tailor suits for his customers.

How does AI work with Fashion?

Visualization is an important business in the world of fashion but how can AI work with fashion is indeed a challenge especially if there is an absence of accurate input. Tailors can only guess what their clients’ preferences are and take the risky venture. AI, defined as intelligence demonstrated by machines, can use critical agents to find solutions in this case.

San Francisco-based Eison Triple Thread launched FITS, an AI-integrated, web application, to help create the ultimate, customized look and thus, eliminate this guesswork. Through music and data processing, the company tailors suits based on their clients’ lifestyles and musical preferences.

Through a lifestyle quiz, Eison’s clients identify their personal traits, preferences, fashion sense, interests, and other critical elements that will differentiate them. The company’s AI, web application gathers data through its API as the clients ponder on their input. Data, analysis and first visuals are generated following this initial step. These images, which are curated consistently, allow clients a first look of possible, selected styles which will best fit them. This intelligent analysis will also provide a detailed recommendation of the better color, texture, and fabric type for the clients.

The use of AI in fashion is incredibly amazing, and it demonstrates the possibility to fuse tech and fashion at the same time. AI allows the achievement of end results that human beings may not be able to attain but the process to reach that point requires a non-artificial intervention.

Tell us, would you want AI to fashion your next outfit or you much prefer to visit a trusted tailor?
