Aftershock has taken its Nova 15 laptop and cranked things up to 11. The company today announced the Nova 17, a 17.3-inch desktop replacement with actual desktop components stuffed inside. This is hardly a notebook that you want to carry around with you, but it sure looks set to satisfy even the most demanding gamers and content creators from a performance standpoint.

Here's an overview of its specifications:

  • 17.3-inch 1,920 x 1,080-pixel 144Hz G-Sync display
  • Intel Core i9-9900K (3.60GHz, 16MB L3 cache)
  • 32GB DDR4-2666 RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
  • 1TB PCIe SSD
  • 386 x 262.1 x 38mm
  • 3.4kg

The display also covers up to 100 per cent of the sRGB color space, so content creators should find something to like here as well. The Core i9-9900K is a 95W octa-core desktop chip that can boost to a maximum of 5.0GHz on a single core, which means it's really quite something to see in a laptop.

Aftershock will also eventually offer support for DDR4-3000 if you'd like speedier memory.

On the storage front, the Nova 17 features two M.2 PCIe SSD slots and two HDD bays, so you'll almost definitely never be short of drive space if you opt to populate all of them. You can opt for a RAID 0 setup as well for even faster performance.

Unsurprisingly, there are also plenty of ports and connectors. Here's a full rundown of them:

  • 1x HDMI 2.0 (with HDCP)
  • 2x Mini DisplayPort 1.4
  • 3x USB 3.1 (Gen 1) (1 x powered USB port, AC/DC)
  • 1x Thunderbolt 3 / USB 3.1 Gen 2 combo port (Type-C)
  • 1x USB 3.1 (Gen 2) (Type-C)
  • 1x Headphone Jack
  • 1x Microphone Jack
  • 1x Line-in Jack
  • 1x S/PDIF output Jack
  • 1x RJ-45 LAN

Like all other Aftershock systems, the Nova 17 will offer a range of custom finishes, and you can pick from a range of automobile paints and vinyl car wraps to make it truly yours.

The laptop starts at S$4,950 with a Core i7-9700K (3.60GHz, 12MB L3 cache), but the configuration listed here will cost you S$5,479
