4K home theater projectors are getting smaller and more affordable. Case in point: BenQ has just announced the CineHome W1700, a DLP-based 4K HDR projector priced at budget-friendly S$2,499.

Sporting a Texas Instrument 0.47-inch DLP DMD chip with a full HD native resolution, the W1700, like BenQ’s other 4K brethren, uses fast pixel switching tech to create the 8.3 million on-screen pixels. Brightness is rated at 2,200 lumens, and under normal use, the lamp can last up to 4,000 hours.

The W1700 uses BenQ’s CinematicColor technology, and according to the company, the projector is able to offer “hyper-realistic video quality with projector-optimized HDR”. The DLP projector has an RGBRGB color wheel, and Rec.709 color space coverage is said to be over 96%. Other key specs include a 1.2x zoom lens, HDR10 support, HDCP 2.2 (on one of the two HDMI inputs), and automatic vertical keystone correction. And oh, the W1700 supports 3D too.

The BenQ W1700 will be available starting December 2017.
