Adobe's new Generative AI tools for Premiere Pro is coming soon, will streamline complex video editing tasks

Adobe has unveiled upcoming updates for Premiere Pro, which incorporate generative AI technologies that will allow creative professionals to streamline complex video editing tasks – such as adding or removing objects and extending an existing clip.

The new features will be powered by a new video model that will join the family of Adobe's Firefly AI model, which already includes Image, Vector, Design, and Text Effects. Adobe is continuing to develop Firefly AI models in the categories where it has deep domain expertise, such as imaging, video, audio, and 3D and will deeply integrate these models across Creative Cloud and Adobe Express.

Premiere Pro will also open up to third-party AI models to broaden its existing plugin ecosystem. This integration will allow editors to incorporate video generation models from OpenAI and Runway, enabling them to generate B-roll to edit into their project. Editors can also use Pika Labs with the Generative Extend tool to add extra seconds at the end of a shot seamlessly.

Adobe's senior vice president of the Creative Product Group, Ashley Still, highlighted the practical benefits of these integrations. “Adobe is reimagining every step of video creation and production workflow to give creators new power and flexibility to realize their vision,” she said. “By bringing generative AI innovations deep into core Premiere Pro workflows, we are solving real pain points that video editors experience every day, while giving them more space to focus on their craft.”

The announcement also covered the upcoming general availability of AI-enhanced audio workflows in Premiere Pro. These include new tools for audio editing, such as interactive fade handles and dynamic waveforms, designed to improve the usability and efficiency of audio production.

Adobe is not only focusing on building powerful tools but is also committed to ethical AI use. As part of the Content Authenticity Initiative, Adobe ensures that all content produced with its tools can be traced back to its creation process through Content Credentials, promoting transparency and trust in digital media.
