Adobe's adds Apple M1 native support for Lightroom, Rosetta support for Lightroom Classic and Photoshop

If you're a heavy user of Adobe's photo editing apps on Mac, you'll be pleased to know that Adobe now offers native support for Mac systems powered by the new Apple M1 chipset.

Adobe Lightroom is now a native app for Apple M1 and Windows Arm platforms. This means that Lightroom works without any workaround required (like Rosetta) on Mac products using the new Apple Silicon. Also, Windows 10 products powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will enjoy the same native compatibility.

In the same announcement, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, and Adobe Camera Raw are now compatible with Apple's built-in emulation tool, Apple Rosetta. Adobe said that they are implementing this as a beta as they continue to develop Apple M1-compatible versions of these programmes. Currently, existing Adobe users can try out the beta version Photoshop that's built for Apple M1 and Windows Arm. The beta app is available via the Creative Cloud client.

In addition to native Apple M1 support, Adobe's apps like Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for desktop, iOS, and Android will now support Apple ProRAW, given that ProRAW is a .DNG file format.

The update by Adobe also packs other goodies for iOS 14 widgets. To read the full patch notes, go here.
