No, Adaptive Transparency isn't coming to the first-gen AirPods Pro or AirPods Max
About a week ago, it was reported that Adaptive Transparency – one of the second-generation AirPods Pro's new features – was going to be available to the first-generation AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.
For the uninitiated, Adaptive Transparency is a new feature introduced with the new AirPods Pro that is supposed to reduce sudden loud noises (like sirens or construction work) while still giving users the ability to hear their surroundings.
Interestingly, the feature started appearing in the settings menu for the first-gen AirPods Pro and AirPods Max when Apple released the third beta of iOS 16.1, leading many to believe that the feature was indeed coming to the older devices
But now, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the setting wasn't supposed to appear in the beta and its appearance in the settings was actually a bug.
I’m told this is a bug https://t.co/4BPBmpLbgI

Adaptive Transparency not being available on the older AirPods device makes more sense because it was thought that this feature was possible only because of the new and more powerful H2 chip. The chip allowed the new AirPods Pro to analyse the environment and quickly react to sudden loud noises.
To be clear, Apple has yet to explicitly confirm nor deny whether Adaptive Transparency would be coming to the first-gen AirPods Pro or AirPods Max.
