Acronis today announced the Acronis Data Protection Platform, a new cloud-based service that aims to revolutionize data protection for end users. The new data protection platform will include solutions for backup, global disaster recovery and secure file syncing and sharing.

In addition, Acronis is releasing a new version of Acronis Backup Cloud and introducing Acronis Files Cloud to provide cloud backup services and secure file syncing and sharing as part of its comprehensive data protection platform.

As businesses move increasingly large amounts of data into the cloud, it’s no wonder that Acronis has also recognized the importance of robust data protection services like data recovery. To this end, it is making the Acronis Disaster Recovery Service available globally, effectively helping to extend a peace of mind to its customers across the globe.

Disaster recovery consists of more than just natural disasters, and Acronis will help end users guard against and recover from all manner of scenarios, ranging from human and software errors to hacking and corporate data theft. Threats will converge where the data is, and it is imperative that businesses have access to solutions that will help them deal with these risks.

According to IDC Research, data storage, backup and recovery is the top use case for businesses that rely on the cloud. Cloud storage is coming to be seen as a more secure solution for data as compared to on-site local servers, and Acronis is clearly looking to bolster the security and reliability of cloud storage with the Acronis Data Protection Platform.

Deep down, the platform is powered by the Acronis AnyData Engine, which is a set of deep and powerful data protection technologies that can capture, store, and recover data from anywhere.

Acronis has taken steps to ensure that the new data protection platform will be able to integrate seamlessly into the existing IT environments of modern businesses. In addition to Windows and Mac, it supports a broad range of systems, including XEN, KVM, Linux, and MySQL, to name a few others.
