Acer unveils Aspire V Nitro Black and VX gaming notebooks and Aspire GX gaming PC
At CES 2017, Acer has unveiled three new gaming-oriented computers. More specifically, two gaming notebooks and a gaming PC.
Aspire V Nitro Black Edition and Aspire VX gaming laptops
These notebooks are designed to deliver incredible performance and responsiveness, immersive 4K entertainment, and longer battery life. Both new notebook series come with up to 7th-generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and pack either the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or 1050 Ti graphics card.
The Aspire V Nitro comes in 17 and 15-inch versions, but the Aspire V 17 Nitro Black Edition is available with an optional integrated Tobii eye-tracking module to enhance productivity and responsiveness during use.
Ideal for users seeking high-quality entertainment on a notebook, you can deck the V Nitro with up to a GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card with 6GB of dedicated GDDR5 VRAM and 16GB of DDR4 system memory that's can be further expanded to 32GB using two soDIMM modules.
The notebooks also come with NVMe PCIe Gen 3 or SATA SSD, and 2TB of HDD storage, but only the V Nitro Black Edition has a built-in fingerprint reader.
Additionally, they feature Acer’s AeroBlade metal fan to release thermal exhaust, and Coolboost technology to allow users to manually control the cooling process. You also get DustDefender that uses dual high-speed fans with reverse rotation to remove dust build-up and improve heat dissipation.

Meanwhile, the Aspire VX 15 comes with up to 7th-gen Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, and up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics with GDDR5 VRAM. It also offers up to 16GB DDR4 memory (expandable to 32GB), and packs a 512GB SSD and 1TB HDD for storage.
The VX notebook also features large cooling vents and an edgy red chassis, along with an iron red backlit keyboard.
Finally, the Aspire VX 15 is supplemented with Dolby Audio Premium, Acer TrueHarmony sound, Skype for Business certification, and a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS screen.
Aspire GX gaming PC
The Aspire GX series desktop PC is VR-ready and is equipped with up to 7th-gen Intel Core processors, up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM, and up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics. It also offers plenty of storage: up to 3TB HDD and 256GB SSD.
The GX also features a handy Wireless Charging Deck to keep users’ mobile devices charged and ready to go.
Price and availability
- Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition will be available in February starting at US$1,199.
- The Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition will be available in February starting at US$1,399.
- The Acer Aspire VX 15 will be available in January starting at US$799.
- The Aspire GX series will be available in March starting at US$899.
