Following their recent Windows 11 announcement, Microsoft is now bringing their new way of working in the new normal, a subscription Cloud PC called Windows 365.

Windows 365 takes the operating system to the Microsoft Cloud, streaming a Windows desktop experience – including all your apps, data, and settings – to your personal or corporate devices creating the Cloud PC.

Think of it as a streaming service where the data centre uses Azure to bring you a PC running a fully secure Windows 10 or Windows 11 experience that you can work on regardless of location or device.

So even if you’re on a Mac, iOS, Android, or Linux device, you can still use all the personalised applications, tools, data, and settings from Windows you’re used to.

Plus, the Windows experience is consistent, no matter the device. You can pick up right where you left off, because the state of your Cloud PC remains the same, even when you switch devices.

As we mentioned before, this is powered by Microsoft Azure. And the concept isn’t exactly new with Microsoft offering a solution called Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).

An easy way to think of Windows 365 is as AVD Lite, a service that can be easily deployed and managed with Microsoft Endpoint Manager or via a self-service portal, no VDI expertise required. Ideal for customers looking for a personalised Windows experience with a predictable per user, per month pricing.

With AVD, businesses can customise and fine-tune deployments to meet performance, security, compliance, location, or other requirements to build and deliver nearly any desktop or app virtualisation scenario. They can include capabilities such as remote app streaming, personalised (single session) or pooled (multi-session) desktops, and integration with enterprise Cloud solutions from partners like Citrix and VMware.
