In addition to the Space Monitor, Samsung has also announced at CES the CRG9, a giant 49-inch curved gaming monitor with a 32:9 super-ultrawide aspect ratio. Now Samsung has had a 49-inch monitor before this, but that C49HG90 only has a 3,840 x 1,080-pixel resolution, whereas the CRG9 is 5,120 x 1,440. In short, that’s akin to two 27-inch QHD monitors put side by side.

Once again, the CRG9 is an LCD monitor (VA panel) that’s enhanced by metal-coated quantum dots, and Samsung is touting HDR10 support and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. It also covers 95% DCI-P3. The gaming monitor has one HDMI port, two DisplayPorts inputs, a 4-port USB 3.0 hub, a headphone jack, and a height-adjustable stand.

In terms of gaming specs, you’re looking at a fast 120Hz refresh rate with FreeSync 2 support and a 4ms response time.

If you’re more of a content creator than gamer, there’s also the UR59C, a 32-inch curved 4K monitor with a 2,500:1 contrast ratio. Available in an interesting “Dark Blue Gray” shade, the 6.7mm-thin panel has a fabric-textured rear casing, and is perched on a metal stand with a cable-hiding base.

We’ll circle back again when we hear back from Samsung regarding the monitors’ pricing and availability.
