30-minute deliveries are now a reality with Foodpanda and Honestbee

It just got a whole lot easier to feed yourself at home and stock up on various household items. In separate announcements, Foodpanda and Honestbee both said that they would now offer 30-minute deliveries to further improve customer experience.

In the case of Foodpanda, the online food delivery service recently expanded its fleet of in-house delivery riders to include over 500 motorbike couriers to help ferry orders from more than 500 restaurants to customers’ homes. Foodpanda previously relied on the delivery riders of its restaurant partners to fulfill orders, but the larger fleet would now allow it to take charge of the entire food ordering experience and offer more consistent service standards.

According to Foodpanda, it relies on intelligent algorithms to optimize the delivery routes of riders for greater efficiency.

On top of that, Foodpanda also announced that it had signed partnerships with various health-centric restaurants to offer a wider choice of healthful food options for customers at home and in the office. Among these partner restaurants are the likes of Sushi Burrito, District 10, The Assembly Ground, Nandos, and The Soup Spoon.

Eateries also stand to gain from partnering with Foodpanda. According to Anna Lim, Executive Director of The Soup Spoon, Foodpanda’s fleet has allowed them to focus on key elements like service and food quality. Restaurants have also reportedly experienced a 20% to 30% increase in revenue because the outsourcing of delivery allows them to save on internal resources.

Honestbee’s offering is slightly different, and interestingly enough, doesn’t involve food. The online grocery service is offering 30-minute deliveries from Watson stores in selected areas of Central Singapore. This means customers get to pick from health and beauty supplies and non-perishable items, and have them delivered to their homes or offices in the next half an hour.

The fastest delivery time Honestbee offers is currently same-hour deliveries for groceries. There was no mention of if and when 30-minute grocery deliveries would be offered, but the Watsons announcement makes things just that bit more convenient for Honestbee customers in the eligible areas.

This is still a rather limited roll out for now in the case of Honestbee, but we’re looking forward to seeing both Foodpanda – already active in 40 countries – and Honestbee further expand their capabilities and services. The latter also operates abroad in Hong Kong and is due to commence business in Taiwan and Japan in the next two weeks.
