2020 iPhones expected to come with more RAM, 3D sensors and mmWave support

The Apple iPhone 11 and 11 Pro.

Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis and his team published a research note detailing their predictions on the 2020 iPhone lineup after a recent visit to manufacturers within Apple's supply chain in Asia.

The Barcalys analysts believe the successors of the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max to have 6GB RAM, up from 4GB RAM in the existing models. They also expect the two models to have rear-facing 3D sensors and mmWave support for 5G connectivity.

The successor of the iPhone 11 is likely to have 4GB RAM, but it is not known whether it can support mmWave, sub-6GHz or both. The analysts shared that the next-generation iPhone SE model is still in the pipeline and production would start in February.

The report does not reveal anything new though. Bloomberg reported earlier this month that Apple is developing a new 3D sensor system which will be added to the 2020 iPhone lineup. Nikkei Asian Review also made similar claims of a new 3D-sensing rear camera system for AR apps

The 2020 iPhone is likely to sport a redesigned metal frame similar to the iPhone 4. Other rumoured specs include new display sizes with high refresh ratessmaller notcheswider antenna linesin-display Touch ID and Face ID. As for the next-generation iPhone SE model, similar reports have surfaced over the past few months indicating a launch in March 2020.
