iFixit has taken apart the latest iPad Pro and provided a first look at the LiDAR Scanner.

Using an infrared camera to look at the lasers emitting from the LiDAR scanner, iFixit revealed that the LiDAR Scanner does not use as many projections as the TrueDepth camera system on the iPhone and iPad Pro for Face ID. The front-facing camera on the 2020 iPad Pro is also "identical" to that of the 2018 model.

The teardown also confirms the 2020 iPad Pro comes with 6GB RAM, which is a bump up from the 4GB RAM in all 2018 iPad Pro models except for the 1TB configuration. In addition, the battery is similar to the 2018 model in terms of size.

While the USB-C port is modular and easy to repair or replace if necessary, nearly everything else is held down by adhesive glue which makes repairing the tablet a challenge. Overall, iFixit gave the 2020 iPad Pro a repairability score of 3 out of 10, which is similar to the 2018 model.
