2019 iPhone to continue using Lightning port and 5W charger?

The 2018 iPad Pro tablets come with USB-C ports.

Japanese site Macotakara backtracked on an earlier report about the 2019 iPhone switching to USB-C port

Its sources, which are said to be from a series of manufacturers, now claim that Apple will retain the Lightning port and 5W charger for the 2019 iPhone lineup so that it can keep costs down, and avoid frustrating customers and accessory makers with a new port.

DigiTimes reported in June 2018 that Apple would begin the transition to USB-C for the iPhone in 2019 based on information provided by sources at the analog IC vendors.

The last connector change happened in 2012 when Apple replaced the 30-pin connector with the Lightning port. The 30-pin connector was used for 9 years. However, Apple brought the USB-C port to the 2018 iPad Pros and even started selling a standalone 18W USB-C power adapter
