Skype today announced that its Skype for iPhone app now supports H.264, one of the most commonly used formats for the recording, compression, and distribution of high definition video.

Frequent users of Skype and Facebook should find this a welcome update. Skype has revealed new key features for its Windows application which include the integration of Facebook News Feed and Phonebook, as well as a new group video calling feature available in open beta.

Skype announces the global availability of Skype for Android using either a WiFi or mobile data connection (GPRS, EDGE, 3G). The application is available for download from the Skype mobile browser or via the Android Market.

Users of the Symbian-based Sony Ericsson Satio, Vivaz and Vivaz pro can get Skype on their phones now.
