After a series of manufacturing glitches last year, Apple is looking to reduce its reliance on Foxconn by including Pegatron to its supply chain mix.

In its ongoing legal battles with Samsung, Apple is adding five new patents to its claim. The patents specifically targets Samsung's new S4 and the Google Now service for Android.

According a Q1, 2013 report by Canalys, 59.5 percent of all smart devices in the market -- 308.7 million smartphones, tablets and notebooks -- were running Google's Android operating system. Apple was in second place with a 19.3 percent market share and Microsoft had a market share of 18.1, just slightly behind Apple.

In the first quarter of 2013, Apple managed to regain fifth place in the Chinese mobile market with an eight percent market share. For the last two quarters in 2012, it was languishing in 6th place, while Samsung remained firmly in the top spot with a 20 percent market share.

According to people familiar with the matter, iOS 7 will be a such a significant update that it is pulling engineers from the OS X team to help ensure it meets its rumored September dateline.

Apple will be giving away 150 free Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2013 tickets through the WWDC 2013 Student Scholarship. Students must be enrolled in one of Apple's four developer programs to be eligible to win a WWDC 2013 Student Scholarship.

Following a post-holiday hiring freeze, Foxconn is stepping up hiring, a sign that the company is gearing up for production of a new iPhone.

Apple's upcoming iPhones and iPad Minis are reportedly facing production delays. According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo, such woes may result in their delayed launches, especially the next generation iPhone that is widely expected to be available in June this year.

The Korea Times reports that Samsung is excluded from the development of Apple's upcoming A7 processors.
