Offered only in a 65-inch screen size, the OLED+ 984 is a collaboration between Philips and British audio specialists Bowers & Wilkins.

Royal Philips is transferring its remaining 30% stake in television joint-venture TP Vision to TPV technology, a fully-owned subsidiary of TPV Technology, to concentrate on its Healthcare, Consumer Lifestyle, and Lighting sectors.

TP Vision is introducing a new PFL8008 series of premium Philips Smart TVs that offers advanced networking and streaming capabilities, high-level picture quality features in 2D and 3D, user-interaction capabilities, interactive Smart TV services, and a remote control that allows for pointing navigation and keyboard input.

The new TV's front is a seamless sheet of glass in gradient black to transparent, which masks the screen in off-mode. When switched on, the large glass front gives the screen a magical floating effect while still maintaining the one-piece design concept.

TP Vision has announced the new Philips 9000 series 4K ultra high-definition TVs. Two screen sizes are available: 65 and 84 inches.

Sporting a frameless design, the Philips PFL6008 range of Smart TVs features a 500Hz Perfect Motion Rate, along with a Perfect 3D Natural Motion tech to deliver quality visuals even in fast-action movie scenes and sportscasts.

The Smart TV Alliance Consortium formed by LG and TP Vision is now official. Developers will be able to work on the Alliance's Smart TV SDK once the software is released before the end of the year.

Philips has officially ceased production of HDTVs. Instead, a joint venture (TP Vision) has been formed with Hong Kong-based TPV Technology Limited where the latter will develop, manufacture, and market television sets carrying the Philips' moniker henceforth.
