Intel has announced that it will stop supporting the PC BIOS by 2020.

Sapphire has just release a BIOS update for its Radeon R9 290 graphics card. With the new BIOS, the card is touted to perform better.

EVGA has announced its Double BIOS feature for a select range of its NVIDIA GeForce GTX 700 series graphics cards. With this feature, the graphics card is able to support a secondary BIOS, for performance tweaking or as a backup for the card's primary BIOS.

The source code of different versions of AMI firmware and a unique UEFI signing test key were found on an unsecured FTP server. As such, such a security leak may have grave implications for desktop systems that feature motherboards that operate on the AMI UEFI BIOS.

MSI has announced BIOS updates for its Intel Express Z68 and H61 motherboard series to support Intel Ivy Bridge processors. These updates will be released progressively on the official website of MSI. The new 22nm Ivy Bridge processors are expected to be launched in April.

Gigabyte has issued a crucial BIOS update for three of its X79 motherboards which are the GA-X79-UD3, GA-X79-UD5 and G1.Assassin 2. The company has admitted these boards may overheat and burn when they are overclocked.

According to an anonymous source, MSI is planning to ditch the BIOS and adopt UEFI by the end of this year, starting with its Sandy Bridge motherboards.
