Test Setup

We tested the XpertVision in our usual test system of an Intel Core 2 Duo processor E6700 (2.66GHz) and an Intel D975XBX 'Bad Axe' motherboard. On board was also 2GB of low latency DDR2-800 Kingston HyperX memory running in dual channel mode. A Seagate 7200.7 SATA hard drive was used, installed with Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and DirectX 9.0c.

Naturally in our comparison, we had the Sapphire Radeon HD 2600 XT GDDR4 and also its overclocked Radeon HD 2600 PRO. All three Radeon HD cards were running ATI's 8.38 drivers (Catalyst 7.6). As for the NVIDIA representatives, we added in the GeForce 8600 GTS, which should be faster than the ATI ones. Then there is the main competitor for the Radeon HD 2600 XT, the GeForce 8600 GT. Both NVIDIA cards were on ForceWare 158.16 drivers. The following benchmarks were used in this article:

  • Futuremark 3DMark05 (ver. 120)
  • Futuremark 3DMark06 (ver. 102)
  • Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (ver 1.3)
  • F.E.A.R
  • Company of Heroes (ver 1.3)
  • Quake 4 (ver 1.2)
