Overclocking

As the GeForce 8800 GT happened to be quite an overclockable card, we decided to try our luck with the GeForce 9800 GX2. Overclocking was as easy as adjusting the sliders from the NVIDIA Control Panel and we found that we could reach 750MHz for the two cores (presumably since there isn't any way to control each core separately) and 2200MHz DDR for the memory. These are rather decent increase in frequencies and we have seen a similar outcome on a single GeForce 8800 GT before. However, while the numbers look nice on paper, the improvements were marginal at best in benchmarking. We aren't sure if they are worth the greater heat impact, but if you ever dare to overclock your GeForce 9800 GX2, just be sure your PC has top-notch ventillation.
