Temperature Testing

Liquid cooling doesn't mean that it was by default the coolest in our temperature testing segment. The MSI was a few degrees warmer than the reference card, though we got these readings with the Tide Water Mini's fan set to Low. The outcome may be different if we had set it to High but we felt that it would seem to defeat the purpose of having liquid cooling in the first place due to the extra noise produced. As it was, the slightly higher temperatures on the MSI should worry no one, especially given ATI's history of warm GPUs. It is likely that a full-fledged retail Tide Water module would fare a lot better, but then again, that too has its drawback as discussed earlier. Considering the slim one-slot water cooling module design, MSI's RX1950XTX-VT2D512E Water Cooled Edition is just an alternative (and queiter) version to consider from the normal reference design.
