Overclocking

This aspect was one that the MSI Radeon X1900 XTX fared rather poorly in. Even after we had adjusted the fan speed of its cooler upwards into a rather noisy whine (around 4000rpm), we could only manage a miserly 708MHz for its core and 1600MHz DDR for the memory. This was marginally better than its default 650/1550MHz and paled in comparison to the Sapphire. Performance-wise, the overclocked MSI obviously was no match for the faster Sapphire Radeon X1900 XTX albeit the difference in actual scores suggests that it should only be a small and probably insignificant improvement in games. In fact, we feel that you would be better off not overclocking if the improvements are so limited. You would gain more from the peace of your ears and mind.
