Thanks to the internal overclocking of the stream processors, the MSI was marginally faster than the Foxconn for some resolutions in 3DMark05 and 06. Typically, the difference was quite minor at less than 3% and only apparent when anti-aliasing was disabled. When that setting was enabled, the MSI was on par at most with the Foxconn. Since the MSI has a slight memory clock disadvantage compared to the Foxconn, these results took us by surprise initially and prompted us to take a closer look at the MSI card's graphics BIOS.

It is also important to highlight the Achilles' heel of the 320MB versions of the GeForce 8800 GTS, which can be seen by how the GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB gradually narrowed the advantage of the higher clock speeds in 3DMark06 when anti-aliasing was enabled and when the resolutions were ramped up. At 1920 x 1440, the 640MB GeForce 8800 GTS had overtaken the 320MB version despite its inferior clock speed.
