The IXOS Divo Music System

The IXOS Divo Music System

As we’ve mentioned, the IXOS Divo is a fantastic looking set of speakers. Finished in dark gunmetal, the tall and slim satellite speakers are like cylindrical towers of sound, and the subwoofer is compact yet powerful-looking. As a set of speakers targeted at audiophiles and well-heeled users alike, the IXOS Divo certainly looks well up to the task.

On the hardware front, each satellite speaker houses a 15mm tweeter as well as a two 50mm midrange drivers, while the specially-designed Acoustic Air Spring passive radiator subwoofer is driven by a sizable 155mm woofer. Also, because the very foundations of IXOS are built on their research into AV cables, the Divo also comes with IXOS’ very own audio cables, which ensure minimal signal degradation.

However, the Divo is not perfect and there were some aspects of the Divo we disliked. First of all, the satellites, despite the stylish and sleek gunmetal finish, felt very plastic to touch.

And we were miffed that the docking pod for iPods/iPhones did not double up as a wired remote controller. Instead, volume controls buttons were located on the subwoofer itself, and seeing that most users would rather place their subwoofer on ground level, this makes the volume controls inaccessible.

But if it’s any consolation, the Divo’s remote control was a bliss to use. With all the important controls at the touch of our fingertips, we could very easily adjust volume, bass and tremble levels, and even navigate around our iPhone’s iPod menu and choose our desired track.

The IXOS Divo is a looker in our books.

The satellites speakers house two midrange drivers and a single tweeter.

The power button, as well as buttons to control the subwoofer level and volume are located on the subwoofer itself. Really, these should have been placed on the wired iPod/iPhone dock instead.

The various ports and connectors found on the subwoofer. The RCA input connects here.

The docking device has a handy LCD display which can show users the volume, bass, and treble levels. You can also turn the display off should you find the display too bright and distracting.

At the back of the docking device is a 3.5mm stereo jack for auxiliary input and also a mini-USB port, which you can use to sync your iPod/iPhone directly with iTunes.

The Divo comes with IXOS' very own cables for the best signal reproduction.

The remote control is not the most ergonomic to hold and use, but it offers full control of the IXOS Divo.
