Results - SPECviewperf 8.01

SPECviewperf results are more or less predictable, following the performance trend we've seen so far. 3dsmax and maya based workloads show the QX6700 scaling together with the E6700, which means that they aren't threaded enough to make use of all four cores of the QX6700. The Lightscape viewset however, isn't optimized for quad-core processors and actually perform worse than its dual-core counterparts - similar to what we last saw in the Office Productivity workloads for SYSmark 2004. The Xeon 5160 SMP system couldn't keep up in certain tests like the 3dsmax viewset that brings into heavy influence of the memory and graphics subsystem, and as seen in our earlier article on them, the Xeon pair doesn't fare well in such circumstances.
