Performance Benchmarking
With this machine pretty much the top end model for the series, we figured that the unit should do pretty well in the benchmarking department. As such, we've loaded up our usual suspects - PCMark05, PCMark Vantage and 3DMark06 to see how this unit would fare. For 3D, we've also thrown in Far Cry 2 in to see how it would cope in a gaming situation. Strangely though, we were unable to get PCMark 05 running despite the other two benchmarks doing fine. As such, we are only able to present to you the results from our testing from two of the benchmarks, PCMark Vantage and 3DMark06.
To give you an idea on how the TouchSmart 600 stands, we've thrown in the previous TouchSmart model together with the HP HDX18t (an entertainment class notebook), which has very similar specs to the TouchSmart 600. Since the TouchSmart 600 basically uses a notebook platform within, similar to the TouchSmart IQ500, we thought it would be appropriate to use a notebook for comparison.

Given the fact that the TouchSmart 600 is the highest end model of its series and sports much better hardware compared to the TouchSmart IQ500, it should then come as no surprise that the unit easily beats the older model in PCMark Vantage. The faster processor, memory and others in the newer machine all contribute to a much faster performer. As for the 3D performance, we're definitely seeing an improvement from NVIDIA's new GeForce GT230 M, with performance easily beating the older NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT GPUs (like the one on the HDX18t) on gaming benchmarks.
