Introduction

Be Envious of My Printer

If the Envy name sounds familiar, you’re probably thinking of the Voodoo Envy, a high-performance notebook computer from VoodooPC. The company was bought over by Hewlett-Packard (HP) in late 2006. While the Voodoo branding has all but gone from HP’s PC lineup, the current HP Envy line of laptops, tablets and netbook PCs share Voodoo’s DNA. And it seems that HP is pushing the “art, innovation and performance” philosophy into other product categories too.

The HP Envy 100 (D410a) isn’t a mobile computing device. Instead, it’s a compact all-in-one printer. It prints, copies, scans, and connects to the Web (via 802.11n Wi-Fi) sans a PC. It also utilizes a 3.45-inch color touchscreen LCD. While it doesn't do fax, it comes with other amenities such as memory card slots, a USB port (for flash drives), and a single 80-sheet paper input tray. According to HP, it’s the world’s first polyvinyl chloride-free (PVC free) printer. It’s also ENERGY STAR qualified (i.e., it’s energy efficient).

So, does it perform as well as its sleek looks? Let's find out.

The HP Envy 100 has a 3.45-inch touchscreen LCD, connects to the Internet via Wi-Fi, and supports 'apps'.
