Battery Life & Portability Index

Battery Life

The Gigabyte Booktop M1022 comes with a 6-cell battery, so if battery life is your utmost consideration, you'll be happy to know that the Booktop comes equipped with a 6-cell battery pack and has a capacity of 57.72 Wh. The battery lasted over 4 hours in our tests, which is just about on par with the MSI Wind U123H, which also happens to have a similar capacity battery, but is a bit better specced thanks to its N280 Atom processor.

The 6-cell battery that comes with the Gigabyte M1022 provides it with enough juice for over four hours.

Breaking down the figures, we found that the Gigabyte Booktop M1022 has one of the highest power consumption figures, though it is still generally within our expectations of other Intel Atom processor based netbooks.

Portability Index

On to our usual portability index, this takes into consideration of the battery up-time in our above test where we ran a video clip in continuous loop, and divided by the product of the volume and weight of the device. The result? Gigabyte's Booktop M1022 scored 2.119 on our portability index, which is somewhat decent but not fantastic.
