Our original published scores for FarCry had discrepancies, but we've since remedied this and have updated the page to reflect its true performance.

Having looked at the scores of the synthetic and ultimately 'meaningless numbers' of 3DMark (they are of course just useful for relative comparisons), we turn to the real games where one can literally see the difference onscreen. The result was again in favor of the overclocked Foxconn, which held a 7% to 8% lead over the 640MB version and obviously an even bigger one over the standard 320MB model in Splinter Cell. In absolute terms, the difference was more 'persuasive' and more easily noticed by gamers at the lower resolution like 1024 x 768, since the gap could be as high as 8 to 10 frames but when the going got tough at 1600 x 1200 and beyond, we doubt gamers would feel the difference as keenly.

In FarCry, without anti-aliasing, the Foxconn managed to keep an edge of up to 10% over its nearest opponents, the 640MB GeForce 8800 GTS and the GeForce 7950 GX2 but the 320MB memory size started to limit its performance when 4xAA was enabled, with the lead evaporating to almost negligible at 1600 x 1200. The advantage of having a larger frame buffer could not have been better illustrated than in this test, even for an older game like FarCry.
