ViewQwest Offers Additional Static IP Addresses to Its Residential Users

Customers can now enjoy a new value-added service from ViewQwest which allows them to have additional Static IP addresses for their homes for a greater network experience.

ViewQwest will be offering its subscribers a block of eight Static IP addresses. Prior to this, ViewQwest only offered the service to their corporate broadband users who required a block of eight Static IP addresses to allow the ease of connectivity for various purposes within their businesses such running an FTP server without worrying about a dynamically changing IP address.

Using Static IP addresses on home networks prevents network security problems as opposed to Dynamic IP address assignment. However, the need for Static IP addresses only applies to users who not only run more than one server but also require the need to access their home computers from any Internet connection. In Singapore, there is a limited number of Static IP addresses issued by Internet service providers, who charge a premium for static IP addresses. Users who plan for multiple computers to access through multiple servers should definitely consider having additional Static IP addresses.

Following the launch of ViewQwest’s Fibernet 2.0 which featured one Static IP for all customers who subscribed to it, users can enjoy a block of eight Static IP addresses at a rate of S$50 per month charged to their existing plans.
