Moto X Touted as "the First Smartphone You Can Design Yourself" in New Ad

Motorola unveiled the first ad for its upcoming Moto X smartphone, which it claims to be "the first smartphone that you can design yourself." What's the hype about designing the smartphone yourself?

According to AndroidandMe, sources with information on the matter claim that consumers can personalize the Moto X in as many as 20 different colors, and there are casing options ranging from wood to plastic to metal and carbon fiber.

Another key message that Motorola is trying to convey via the ad is the fact that the Moto X is also the first smartphone to be designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S. Motorola made this statement in a press release in May, claiming that there are several business advantages.

You can also see for the first time, Motorola's new logo which is more colorful and has a tagline "a Google company". As a Google company, Motorola will have the support of Google's expertise in software although it has been reiterated time and time again that Motorola will not be given special treatment.

The Moto X smartphone will be launched by October, and its alleged specs include a 4.7-inch HD display, a dual-core processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Google chairman Eric Schmidt remarked that Motorola's upcoming products are going to be "phenomenal", adding to the media hype over the Moto X.
