LG Electronics today announced that its G Pad 8.3 is the world's first Google Play Edition tablet.

Unveiled earlier in September, the G Pad 8.3 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core 1.7GHz processor, 2GB RAM, and has a 8.3-inch Full-HD (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) display. Other specs include 16GB internal storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 4,600mAh battery and a weight of 338g.

As a Google Play Edition device, the G Pad 8.3 is powered by the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS and will be next in line after the Nexus devices to receive the latest software updates.

The G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition will come in glossy Indigo Black, and is available for purchase in the U.S for $349.99. Availability in other countries has not yet been determined at this time.
