Google Tests Your "Scents" of Humor with Nose Beta

Google has a long history with April Fools' Day having pulled some extremely successful and immensely hilarious pranks over the years (anyone remember Gmail Paper?). For 2013, they have added to the list with Google Nose Beta.

The new service has its own page which claims Nose Beta will take you beyond type, talk and touch for a new notation of sensation. As always Google talks the talk and tries to bluster you into believing the legitimacy of the service by throwing about big words like "sommelier" and having a hype video explaining the rationale behind the creation of Google Nose.

There is even a "Try Google Nose" button which will take you to a Google Search result page with some added features right in the corner. Pressing the "Smell" button displays a prompt asking you to get closer to the screen while it transmits the scent.

For those who fell for the prank hook line and sinker, the "Need Help" option from the Google Nose Beta service helpfully points out that today is April Fools' Day.
